Mentoring Children and Youth

Community Hope trains and provides resources for volunteers who meet with the same Lake City School student for one hour per week throughout the school year. Whether they are putting a puzzle together, playing a game or just playing games, these weekly meetings are opportunities for mentors to help kids know they are valued and loved. Mentoring helps increase self-confidence and teaches kids about healthy boundaries, relationships, and social interactions. Children and youth with mentors are encouraged to focus on learning and trying new things which can increase the likelihood of high school graduation. Each mentor and child have a prayer partner who stays informed of needs and provides on-going prayer support.
